Our Story
SG Construction was founded by Scott Groschel with a clear goal: to deliver high quality outdoor living spaces while providing a professional and organized experience for every client.
Scott’s path into construction started early working as a laborer for a deckbuilder and developing a genuine feel for the craft from the ground up.
He stayed with that company all the way through college, where he earned a degree in Business Management. That combination of hands-on site experience and formal business education is rare in the trades, and it’s exactly what shaped the way SG Construction is run today structured, transparent, and built around the client experience.After college, Scott went on to build custom homes and spent time managing renovation projects before stepping into a Project Manager role at an outdoor living company.
It was there that his focus sharpened. He saw what waspossible when outdoor spaces were designed and built with real intention and he saw the gap between what most contractors delivered and what homeowners actually deserved. In 2009, he founded SG Construction to close that gap.
Scott is a proud East Bay local and knows better than most what it means tohave a backyard worth spending time in.
When he’s not on a job site, you’ll find him camping, fishing, or hiking with his wife and three kids which means he builds every outdoor space with the same thing in mind real life, real families, and the moments that happen outside.
